Speaker: Dr Siobhán Brennan, Manchester Centre for Audiology and Deafness
Wed 4th February 12:00 – 13:00 UK time. This seminar will be held in person in Newton 241 and online via Microsoft Teams.

Abstract
Pure Tone Audiometry is one of the cornerstones of audiological practice. The British Society of Audiology guidance on this technique is one of our longest standing documents. Despite its extensive use, it has changed little over time. A working group is currently revisiting this guidance. This presentation explores the challenges of Pure Tone Audiometry for clinicians and researchers and explores the evidence behind the guidance. The impact of behavioural factors and other influences on its accuracy will be discussed as will the gaps in the literature which present research opportunities to improve this diagnostic tool.
